Kacy is one of many individuals who have had a meaningful experience, adopting not one but two children in the process. We interviewed Kacy so she could share her experience of being a parent in the foster care system.<\/div><div role=\"presentation\">\u00a0<\/div><div role=\"presentation\"><strong><em>What prompted you to become a foster parent? <\/em><\/strong><\/div><div role=\"presentation\"><span data-ogsc=\"blue\">Ever since I was 18, after volunteering in an orphanage in the Dominican Republic, I wanted to adopt. Years later, after marrying my husband, we both felt that the Lord was calling us to adopt to build our family. We actually felt called to adopt internationally, but while doing our home study with a local agency, they were made aware of a newborn baby who suddenly needed an immediate placement for adoption! We were chosen by the county to be her parents and had to receive an emergency foster license until the adoption was finalized (bio fam was not involved). Then it happened again &#8211; we got another call about a newborn baby needing an immediate placement for adoption, and they felt we would be the best fit for him. We now have two children who are officially adopted into our family.\u00a0<\/span><\/div><div role=\"presentation\">\u00a0<\/div><div role=\"presentation\"><em><strong>How do you feel you are making a difference in your foster child\u2019s life?\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/div><div role=\"presentation\"><span data-ogsc=\"blue\">Being able to welcome our children into our home and\u00a0love them as if they were our biological children, has been such a blessing to us. It has challenged us,\u00a0refined us, and has deepened our understanding of both love and spiritual adoption (how the Lord adopts us into His family and kingdom). Seeing our kids grow, thrive and receive love despite what they&#8217;ve experienced is seeing redemption happening in real time!\u00a0<\/span><\/div><div role=\"presentation\">\u00a0<\/div><div role=\"presentation\"><em><strong>What\u2019s the most challenging part of being a foster parent and how do you face that challenge?<\/strong><\/em><\/div><div role=\"presentation\"><span data-ogsc=\"blue\">Since we have no contact with\u00a0bio family, not having health history can be challenging, but we trust in the Lord&#8217;s guidance and wisdom when we don&#8217;t have the answers because we know they were\u00a0meant to be our children.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/div><div role=\"presentation\">\u00a0<\/div><div role=\"presentation\"><em><strong>What support do you get from Access?<\/strong><\/em><\/div><div role=\"presentation\"><span data-ogsc=\"blue\">Before adoption court, the coordinators visited regularly to make sure our kids were safe and healthy and to make sure we had what we needed.\u00a0<\/span><\/div><div role=\"presentation\">\u00a0<\/div><div role=\"presentation\"><em><strong>What\u2019s something you want people to know about your foster parent experience? <\/strong><\/em><\/div><div role=\"presentation\"><span data-ogsc=\"blue\">Children are such a blessing, however they come into the family!<\/span><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At Access Foster Care &amp; Adoption, we work with many different families when matching children with their perfect homes.
